CFR’s impact extends to veteran housing and sober-living homes, where a stable, welcoming environment can be an important part of someone’s transition.

These shared and transitional living environments have different needs than a traditional apartment, but the goal remains the same: provide people with the basic comforts and necessities that support dignity, routine, independence, and stability.

A dresser provides a place for belongings. A chair provides a place to rest. A table creates a place to eat, talk, or work. A bed provides something even more fundamental—a good night’s sleep.

Central Furniture Rescue is able to serve a variety of community partners, both nonprofit organizations and private groups, including but not limited to:

• Cedar Rise Men’s Recovery House
• Patriot Recovery Residences
• Cedar Valley Haven Mens
• Cedar Valley Haven Womens

For veterans transitioning out of homelessness, housing may not always look like a traditional house or apartment. It may be a tiny home, a shared living environment, or another innovative housing solution designed to provide safety, stability, and a fresh start. Central Furniture Rescue’s model is evolving to help meet those changing needs.

Regardless of the type of housing, our mission remains rooted in four basic promises: a place to prepare and enjoy a meal, a space to bathe with dignity, a comfortable place to sleep, and a welcoming place to sit and rest.

For a veteran beginning a new chapter, having these essentials ready on move-in day can transform an unfamiliar space into a place of comfort, belonging, and hope.

Different housing. Different journeys. The same human need to feel at home. Central Furniture Rescue is proud to work alongside veteran-serving organizations, housing providers, and community partners throughout Eastern Iowa to ensure that those who have served our country can settle into their new space with the dignity, comfort, and essential furnishings they deserve.
